Increase in fare: Document submitted for public discussion

The Bishkek City Hall has developed and submitted to the City Council a draft resolution of the Bishkek City Council on changing the fare. The document has been submitted for public discussion.

As the background statement says, the goal and objectives of the draft resolution are to increase the public passenger transport fares in the capital, taking into account operating costs and inflation.

The City Hall proposes to set the following fares:

Fare per passenger:

  • In a trolleybus — 15 soms;
  • In a bus, regardless of the form of ownership (except for buses of a small and especially small class) — 15 soms;
  • In buses of small and especially small class, regardless of the form of ownership — 21 soms;
  • In buses of an especially small class, regardless of the form of ownership, from 6 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. — 21 soms, from 8.30 p.m. to 6 a.m. — 32 soms;
  • In express buses of an especially small class, regardless of the form of ownership: No. 233, 234 — 22 soms, No. 123, 226, 252 — 32 soms.

Cost of transportation of one piece of luggage in buses, trolleybuses:

  • Weighing over 40 kilograms or with size of 50 × 60 × 100 centimeters — 10 soms.

If the fare is increased, the cost of a transport card (electronic ticket) for a period of one month will be:

  • For schoolchildren — 320 soms;
  • General (for travel by trolley bus, municipal bus) — 920 soms.

The draft proposes to set the right to free travel in municipal public passenger transport for the following categories of citizens with city registration:

  • Pensioners by age;
  • Persons with disabilities of the first, second, third groups of general illness and labor injury;
  • Persons with disabilities since childhood;
  • Postmen of Kyrgyz Pochtasy JSC in the performance of their official duties.

The basis for free travel in municipal public passenger transport is a personalized transport card with a photo and indication of the last name, first name and patronymic of the owner entitled to free travel.

Children under the age of seven will also travel free of charge.

The fares in Bishkek were last time increased in 2021. Travel in trolleybuses and buses, regardless of the form of ownership, costs 11 soms, in minibuses — 15 soms.
