During Tajikistan’s invasion of Kyrgyzstan, the CSTO showed its weak impact in the region. Deputy Ruslan Zhakyshov announced at a meeting of Parliament.
According to him, the organization shows its inefficiency.
«According to the agreement, the CSTO member countries are taking measures to provide their army with modern, identical weapons, military equipment, and materiel. How will this issue be resolved, given the Kyrgyz-Tajik conflict? What kind of military assistance did the CSTO provided to us?» the deputy asked.
The First Deputy Defense Minister Almazbek Karasartov replied that Kyrgyzstan did not need the help of the CSTO forces. «So far we are only participating in exercises. In January 2022, we provided assistance to the CSTO, performing a task in Kazakhstan,» he added.
The Parliament considers agreements on joint logistical and medical support for the troops of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), signed on September 16, 2021 in Dushanbe.
According to Almazbek Karasartov, the agreement defines the principles of joint medical, technical and legal support.
