Six newborns die in Issyk-Kul hospital since beginning of 2023

Six deaths of newborns have been registered in Issyk-Kul hospital since the beginning of 2023. Press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.

On January 11, when collecting operational data on infant and child mortality, the analysis department at the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare revealed deaths of newborns.

The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic urgently created a commission from among the leading specialists of perinatology with a visit to the maternity ward of the Issyk-Kul Regional Combined Hospital. Upon arrival, the commission recorded five cases, the sixth case of perinatal death occurred on January 15.

Members of the commission are analyzing all the cases. In the near future, they will be considered at an emergency meeting of mobile headquarters for reducing infant mortality, where appropriate measures will be taken.

The maternity ward of the Issyk-Kul Regional Combined Hospital is currently closed for disinfection measures. All pregnant women and women in labor are redirected to the maternity ward of the Ak-Suu General Medical Practice Center. All necessary medicines and medical devices are provided in full.

The situation is under special control of the Ministry of Health.

The press center told 24.kg news agency that the director of the hospital, Mirbek Sagynbaev, was suspended from office.
