The WHO has issued new recommendations on epidemiological measures in case of COVID-19 infection. UN News reports.
The organization’s experts recommend patients with symptoms isolate themselves from others for ten days, and those with asymptomatic form of the disease — for five days. The period of isolation may be reduced in case of a negative rapid test result. According to studies, people without symptoms infect others less, and if they do, the disease rarely leads to hospitalization, the statement says.
The WHO urges people to continue wearing masks, for example, in overcrowded rooms or places with poor ventilation.
«There are a number of other factors that are also important, but masks are one of the measures that we recommend when you are indoors and cannot distance yourself,» said WHO spokesperson Maria Van Kerkhove.
