Gold reserves in Kyrgyzstan are estimated at 856 tons, silver — 973.8 tons. The state draft concept for development of the geological and mining industry for 2023-2035 says.
At least 99 alluvial gold deposits with total reserves of 7.364 tons and 59 primary deposits with total reserves of 848.636 tons are listed in the state register. At the same time, there are 258 prospecting and exploration licenses issued in the country. This is 12.5 percent less than last year.
«The reduction in the number of licenses is caused by negative trends that have arisen in connection with the adoption in 2019 of a number of regulatory legal acts (including on taxation and payment of non-tax payments), which worsen the situation of subsoil users. This, in turn, led to a decrease in the investment attractiveness of the industry as a whole,» the document says.
At least 14 mining enterprises are developing nine primary gold deposits in Kyrgyzstan — Kumtor, Makmal, Solton-Sary, Jerooy, Terekkan, Ishtamberdy, Jamgyr, Karakazyk and Taldy-Bulak Levoberezhny. Placer gold mining is carried out at Sulu-Tegerek, Karatyube Buzuk, Baimak, Ishtamberdy, Chanach in Jalal-Abad region, Kumbelsu and Kyndy in Naryn region, Tokoiluu and Karabulak in Chui region.
At the end of 2021, enterprises of the republic extracted 25.116 tons of gold, while Kumtor accounts for 66.9 percent of them.
