Foreign Minister of Japan invites colleagues from Central Asia

Foreign Minister of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi invited colleagues from Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to Tokyo for a meeting. The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Japan reported.

During the talks, the parties will discuss joint cooperation, issues of sustainable development of the Central Asian region. International issues will also be on the agenda, including the situation in Ukraine and Afghanistan.

According to the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Yoshimasa Hayashi will also hold several bilateral meetings with his counterparts.

The current negotiations will be the ninth in this format, they will take place on December 24.

Japan has recently paid great attention to the development of relations with the countries of Central Asia. In November, the Association of Members of Parliament for Friendship between Japan and the countries of Central Asia was established in Tokyo. It was headed by the Deputy Chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, former Prime Minister Taro Aso. At the beginning of December, the Central Asia Investment Forum was also held in the Japanese capital with the participation of representatives of authorities and business from the countries of the region.
