Ombudswoman of Kyrgyzstan asks to declare 2023 Year of Human Rights

Ombudswoman of Kyrgyzstan Atyr Abdrakhmatova asks to declare 2023 the Year of Human Rights. She announced it at the round table «National Dialogue on Human Rights in Kyrgyzstan».

The chief human rights activist of the country noted that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 10, 1948. The document will turn 75 next year.

«We turned to the President Sadyr Japarov with a request to declare next year the Year of Human Rights. We also appealed to the head of the Cabinet Akylbek Japarov to celebrate International Human Rights Day every year on December 10 in Kyrgyzstan. We ask you to officially mark this on the calendar,» Atyr Abdrakhmatova said.

She noted that annually state bodies should report on the level of observance of human rights in their activities to the head of state, parliament and the public.
