«I propose to give the Eurasian Economic Commission the authority to work on the consequences of the sanctions,» the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
According to him, a group of heads of economic departments of the EAEU countries is working in this direction. But the President of Kazakhstan believes that the EEC should lead the process. He also noted that 2022 has become a difficult year for the global economy. Not having time to recover from the consequences of the pandemic, the international community is faced with new geopolitical and economic challenges.
«We see how all sorts of bans, quotas and duties are being introduced around the world that seriously restrict trade. Against this background, our active cooperation within the EAEU positively differs from global trends, and this inspires optimism,» Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.
He drew attention to the fact that large-scale joint projects are being implemented in the Union, the share of national currencies in mutual settlements is increasing. Such a positive trend clearly demonstrates the high level of interaction and the significant potential of the integration partnership.
«In the context of the current geopolitical turbulence, it is extremely important for us to maintain and strengthen economic ties, to combine efforts to develop trade and economic cooperation within the framework of the principles and goals of the Union,» the President of Kazakhstan concluded.
