Eurasian competitions in national and non-Olympic sports (Eurasiade) may take place in the next two years, one of the stages of the competition may take place in Issyk-Kul region. The Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly Andrey Belyaninov announced on the sidelines of the International Forum on the 50th Anniversary of the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
According to him, he intends to discuss this issue in Bishkek in the near future.
«The idea of the Eurasian Games is good, it is right. These are not alternative sports, but they are absolutely free from commerce, from politics... The very idea is so correct and good that everyone will support it. Any competitions that take place in any kind of sport and at any point, let’s say, in the former Soviet Union, can all be called the Eurasiade. So that later it resulted sometime in the final competition. It looks like it might be in Issyk-Kul. Maybe one of the stages,» Andrey Belyaninov said, adding that this could happen in the next one or two years.
According to him, the discussion of the Eurasiade project goes not without difficulties.
«Initially, the idea was based on folklore sports, national ones. Now it turns out that this is acquiring some more details,» Andrey Belyaninov stressed.
Eurasian Games is an international project of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly. According to open sources, the competition does not have a fixed schedule. In 2007, such games were held in Brest (Belarus), in Kazan (Russia) — in 2010, in Almaty (Kazakhstan) — in 2013.
