Facial recognition system helps to solve murder in Bishkek

Investigators solved a murder thanks to the facial recognition system of the CCTV cameras of the Operational Control Center. Press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

«Employees of the 4th Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of Oktyabrsky district of Bishkek found the body of an unknown man with signs of violent death at the intersection of Ibraimov and Tolstoy Streets. A kitchen knife wrapped in black duct tape was found at the scene. Forensic, biological, fingerprint and chemical examinations have been scheduled. The officers identified the murdered man on the same day,» the statement says.

The investigators managed to get on the trail of the suspect and track his movements around the city using the facial recognition system.

«Early in the morning on November 9, he was detained at the intersection of Maldybaev and Akhunbaev Streets. 47-year-old resident of Jalal-Abad region N.M. was taken to the Investigation Service and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Central Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek,» the police said.

According to investigators, the cause of the murder was a quarrel. Having hit the opponent with a knife, the man fled the scene of the crime. It also turned out that the detainee had been convicted twice. He was released from prison two weeks ago.
