Omar Sultanov has been appointed an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Switzerland. Press service of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Sadyr Japarov signed a decree, according to which Omar Sultanov, Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations and other international organizations in the city of Geneva, was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Swiss Confederation.
Omar Sultanov was born on April 18, 1962. He graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Candidate of Historical Sciences.
He is the brother of ex-speaker of Parliament and former finance minister Marat Sultanov.
In 1998-1999, he headed the presidential administration, before that he headed the diplomatic mission of Kyrgyzstan in Germany for four years. In 1999-2002, Omar Sultanov was the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN and other international organizations. In 2002-2003, he served as the First Deputy Foreign Minister. Then he left the civil service and went into business.
