Authorities of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan plan to open green corridor for tourists

The authorities of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are considering the possibility of opening a green corridor for tourists from the two countries. Kairat Itibaev, Managing Director of the Tourism Development Support Fund, told journalists.

According to him, such an issue is being discussed to simplify the procedure of crossing the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border for tourists.

Kairat Itibaev called it a necessity to reduce bureaucratic procedures and provide tourists with more comfortable conditions while traveling without wasting time in queues at border control.

It should be noted that almost 5 million tourists visited Kyrgyzstan for the first nine months of 2022. According to the Department of Tourism, most of the country’s guests came from Uzbekistan — almost 3 million. Kazakhstan takes the 2nd place with 1.2 million tourists, and Russia — the third with about 500,000 people.

Kyrgyzstan also entered the top 3 CIS countries for winter tourism.
