The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan refused to sign a declaration on the results of CSTO summit. He named the unwillingness of the organization to give a political assessment of Azerbaijan’s «aggression» against the territorial integrity of Armenia as the reason.

Nikol Pashinyan stated that Azerbaijan, starting from May 2021, used weapons against Armenia three times and occupied about 140 square kilometers of its territory.

According to the UN resolution of December 14, 1974, No. 3314, the aforementioned actions of Azerbaijan are regarded as aggression, he said.

«What do we expect from the CSTO in this regard? Statements of this fact, in the form of a clearly formulated political assessment. Refraining from such an assessment, saying that there is no border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, means to assert that there is no zone of responsibility of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and if there is no zone of responsibility, then there is no organization itself. One can at least interpret it this way,» the Prime Minister of Armenia said.

He believes that the lack of a political assessment of the situation can be regarded by Azerbaijan as a «green light» from the CSTO for further aggression against Armenia.
