MPs are considering an agreement with the Republic of Uzbekistan on separate sections of the state border and joint management of Kempir-Abad reservoir. President Sadyr Japarov is present at the meeting.
Speaking to the deputies, he said that Kyrgyzstan could still return to Kempir-Abad issue.
«If we say that we give you 4,000 hectares of arable land when the water is gone, and let the land remain for Uzgen, then they will agree with pleasure. Because there will be water for 100, 200 years, and they know that there will be enough water for many generations. Therefore, do not hurry, dear residents of Uzgen. We can exchange the land under Kempir-Abad reservoir in a year, in 10 or 100 years. Before that, we will cultivate the land ourselves. Let’s put an end to border issues. Not only this issue is being resolved, but also of the remaining 1,500 kilometers of the border,» the head of state said.
Deputy Zhanar Akayev recalled that the agreement states that it is not subject to denunciation.
«It is not subject to denunciation unilaterally, but changes can be made in the bilateral consideration regime,» said Kamchybek Tashiev, head of the State Committee for National Security.
