It is too early to discuss the issue of raising the public transport fare. Maksat Nusuvaliev, Director of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development, announced at a press conference.
«This is just a draft resolution, which was initiated by the department and submitted to the Ministry of Economy. After receiving the conclusion of the departments, the issue will be submitted to the Bishkek City Council for consideration. The City Council will submit it for public discussion for a month. Any resident, citizen will be able to write proposals, comments, objections. Each will be considered. Only after that the issue will be submitted to the Bishkek City Council. No one can say how long it will take,» Maksat Nusuvaliev concluded.
The department has prepared three options for possible fares in Bishkek.
It is noted that the current public transport fares do not provide the receipt of the required amount of finance for passenger auto enterprises and private carriers. Due to the unprofitability of public transport, it is impossible to update the fleet.
The last time the fare in the capital was increased less than a year ago. From November 1, 2021, the fare in trolleybuses and buses, regardless of the form of ownership, is 11 soms, in minibuses — 15 soms. A privilege is provided for pensioners — they are entitled to free travel in municipal transport; they pay 8 soms in private public transport from 8 to 9 p.m.
