Adilet Ali Myktybek sentenced to 3 years of probation supervision

Trial of the case against a blogger and civic activist Adilet Ali Myktybek, known on social media as Adilet Baltabai, has ended in the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.

In his last word, the defendant stated that he was innocent, there was no corpus delicti in his actions.

«The investigator did not establish my identity. I called him a low scorer. It is not clear why investigators got interested in my posts on social media only a year later. I didn’t flee. They asked me if I was pro-Western, I replied that I was pro-Kyrgyz,» said Adilet Ali Myktybek.

Leaving the deliberation room, the judge read out the verdict, finding the blogger guilty under the article «Inciting to riots» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Adilet Ali Myktybek was sentenced to five years in prison. However, he was placed on probation supervision for three years. The blogger was released from custody in the courtroom.
