Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan sign agreement on Kempir-Abad

Official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov to Kyrgyzstan took place. Press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Jeenbek Kulubaev and Vladimir Norov held talks and discussed key issues in the development of Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations, prospects for their further expansion and deepening in political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other areas, and exchanged views on topical regional and international issues.

«They came to mutual understanding on many of them, reached agreements taking into account the interests of both sides. Further solutions were outlined on some issues. Much attention was paid to the preparation for the upcoming state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan. The ministers agreed to intensify elaboration of the content of the visit with an emphasis on promoting trade and economic cooperation and implementation of large investment projects,» the statement says.

Following the negotiations, the parties signed several documents:

• Agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on separate sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border;
• Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Government of Uzbekistan on the joint management of the water resources of Kempir-Abad reservoir;
• Agreement between the Water Resources Service of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in water management issues;
• Memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Digital Development and Uzarchive agency;
• Agreement on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and the International Institute of Central Asia;
• Program of cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries for 2023-2024;
• Joint statement of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Vladimir Norov also met with the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.
