The President of Kyrgyzstan commented on the detention of the former external manager of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC Tengiz Bolturuk in an interview with Kabar agency.
Earlier, Azimbek Beknazarov said that «Tengiz Bolturuk was detained due to politics. They stole gold together. They will say that he, Tengiz Bolturuk, is supposedly guilty, and he will be released soon.»
According to Sadyr Japarov, this statement is the level of thinking of Azimbek Beknazarov himself.
«If we stole gold, then, on the contrary, we would let him escape abroad, and then would say that he stole and fled,» the president commented.
He noted that Tengiz Bolturuk, on the contrary, was detained so that he would not run away and be held accountable for everything, including for purchasing diesel fuel at inflated prices.
A group created from 15 investigators of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Committee for National Security and the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to work. Currently, investigative measures and check of the activities of the former external manager of the Kumtor company are being carried out.
«Let the investigation be over. The amount of damage has been calculated. Let him compensate for all the damage. We have this principle. Then we’ll see,» Sadyr Japarov said.
Tengiz Bolturuk and Ryspek Toktogulov were removed from their positions. It was reported that the Prosecutor General’s Office began a detailed check. It resulted in three criminal cases with preliminary damage to the state of 1 billion soms. As a result, the former external manager of Kumtor was detained and placed in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security until November 10, 2022. Tengiz Bolturuk himself does not admit his guilt. He stated that all the accusations are false. At the same time, his attorney says that the accused is ready to cooperate with the investigation.
Tengiz Bolturuk was arrested and is kept in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security until November 10.
