«We will see a rapid growth of e-commerce in Kyrgyzstan in two years,» Aibek Kurenkeyev, President of Electronic Commerce Association, said at E-Commerce EXPO 2022 forum.
According to him, the volume of world commerce totals more than $300 trillion. It grows by about 15-16 percent every year. Kyrgyzstan ranks 111th in the world in terms of e-commerce development. But the country expects to improve this figure in the near future. Over the past year, the republic has adopted a number of fundamental documents that will work for the development of electronic commerce.
«The first is the law on e-commerce, signed in 2021. Secondly, a special tax regime has been developed, which provides for 2 percent of turnover, as well as exemption from VAT, income tax and sales tax. Third, two weeks ago, a program for the development of e-commerce until 2026 was signed and approved. We have laid the foundation for growth by these laws. The e-commerce market participants are in the legal field now, have preferential tax regime and can be synchronized with everyone,» Aibek Kurenkeyev said.
He added that it is possible now to resolve all issues with consumers in a pre-trial order. It is also planned to build an e-commerce park, where modern warehouse technologies will be available.
