The United States is providing $1.5 million to support food security in the Kyrgyz Republic. Press service of USAID in Kyrgyzstan reports.

The new funding will be reportedly directed towards programs to enhance food storage and logistics facilities in Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken regions and prevent loss of critical agricultural products. The new facilities will create jobs and serve as a new market to sell fruits and vegetables.

As part of the recently announced funding to address the global food crisis, USAID will improve nutrition for children under five and young mothers in the Kyrgyz Republic.

USAID reminded that the U.S. President Joe Biden announced allocation of $2.76 billion to support food security around the world at the G7 Leaders’ Summit in Germany.
