Since the beginning of 2022, more than 20 cases have been opened in Kyrgyzstan on the fact of inciting ethnic hatred. Nurbek Sydykov, a lawyer at Media Policy Institute Public Foundation, announced at a round table discussion in Bishkek.
«Out of 22 cases initiated under article 330 of the Criminal Code, 20 were initiated based on materials published on the Internet. Ten criminal cases were sent to courts,» he said.
According to the lawyer, three more criminal cases have been opened on the fact of calls for mass riots since the beginning of the year. All three cases were opened on the basis of publications on the Internet. Two cases were sent to court.
«The big problem in such cases is the quality of the examinations scheduled by the investigators. Accusation is often based solely on their results. Experts often issue a verdict without a sufficient basis,» Nurbek Sydykov said.
