Kyrgyzstan supports transformation of CICA

«We highly appreciate the efforts of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship aimed at the institutional development of CICA, and welcome the launch of the transformation of the organization,» the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov said at the 6th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

According to him, the cooperation turned 30 years old this year. During this period, the CICA, as a multilateral forum, has passed a consistent path from a concept to the creation of an effective platform for dialogue and cooperation in the field of security in the Asian region. The Conference is the established mechanism in the implementation of confidence-building measures in the political, economic, humanitarian spheres, countering common challenges and threats to security and stability.

«Kyrgyzstan fully supports the decision of Kazakhstan to continue the mission of chairmanship of the CICA. This will make it possible to implement the outlined plans aimed at increasing the efficiency of its activities. We encourage efforts to expand regional cooperation that will promote inter-civilizational dialogue and strengthen mutual understanding between the countries of the Asian region. In this regard, we welcome the decision of Kuwait to join our Conference as a member state,» Sadyr Japarov said.

The President believes that CICA should be transformed into a full-fledged organization for cooperation and security in Asia in the future.

«Wide geographical representation, huge combined trade, economic, investment and human potential fully allow CICA to create a community of sustainable development in the Asian space. Kyrgyzstan is ready to take an active part in this creative process and make its own contribution. Together we will be able to achieve a solution to the challenges we face in maintaining peace and security, ensuring the sustainable development of states, including improving the living standards and well-being of our peoples,» the President concluded.
