Media experts of Media Policy Institute again ask to annul the law of the ex-deputy Gulshat Asylbaeva on protection from inaccurate (false) information. Lawyer of the institute, Nurbek Sydykov, stated at the round table «Interaction between journalists and civil society».

According to him, the document works against critics of the authorities, and not against fakes and trolls.

He added that there are two precedents under this law — blocking of the website of Respublika newspaper and the partial blocking of 24.kg news agency.

The media community and lawyers demand to recognize the scandalous document, along with the Cabinet’s resolution on its implementation, as invalid.

Nurbek Sylykov noted that the Media Policy Institute would support the initiative aimed at recognizing the scandalous law as non-working.

As for the draft law on the mass media, which was submitted for public discussion by the Presidential Executive Office, media experts also ask to withdraw it. They stressed that the document was copied from the Russian one and is directed against journalists.
