The Park of Friendship of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan was opened by the Presidents of the two countries, Sadyr Japarov and Ilham Aliyev. Press service of the head of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Sadyr Japarov noted that the opening of the Friendship Park is a visible and vivid evidence of strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries and historical ties of the two fraternal peoples not only in political, economic, but also cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

«The park is a symbol of strong friendship and brotherhood between our countries, which have long-standing relations, deep historical, spiritual and moral roots, values and traditions. This is precisely the solid foundation on which we are building modern Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani relations,» he said.

The head of state added that interstate relations between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan have intensified and reached a new level of strategic partnership this year.

Sadyr Japarov stressed that the Kyrgyz side attaches great importance to the development of strategic partnership relations with Azerbaijan.

The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev noted that the opening of the park has a symbolic meaning. On behalf of the Azerbaijani people, he thanked for such an attitude towards their country.

Ilham Aliyev stressed that the commitment to peace, security, national and common Turkic roots of the leader of Kyrgyzstan causes great respect among Azerbaijanis.

«Today, on Kyrgyz soil, I once again see this brotherhood is not in words, but in deeds,» he stressed.

The leader of Azerbaijan added that the capitals of the two countries — Baku and Bishkek — have become sister cities. «The brotherhood of our nations is transforming into a brotherhood between cities. I am sure that this good tradition will live on and many other cities of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan will become sister cities,» Ilham Aliyev said.

Construction of the Park of Friendship of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan began in January 2020 and it was promised to open it in the same year — during the visit of President Ilham Aliyev. But due to the change of power in the Kyrgyz Republic, the visit did not take place. In April 2022, President Sadyr Japarov visited Baku at the invitation of his Azerbaijani counterpart and invited Ilham Aliyev to visit Kyrgyzstan.

As the Bishkek City Hall reported, the territory of the Friendship Park is 5.5 hectares.
