Foreign citizens are asked to purchase compulsory medical insurance certificates

In order to receive medical care in the territory of Kyrgyzstan, foreign citizens need to purchase a compulsory medical insurance certificates and register at a Family Medicine Center (FMC) or General Medical Practice Center. The Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund of Kyrgyzstan reported.

For registration at the FMC / General Medical Practice Center, it is necessary to provide a certificate from the place of residence, including temporary one.

The compulsory medical insurance certificate gives the opportunity to register with a polyclinic and the right to receive a state-guaranteed package of medical services both at the outpatient and inpatient levels.

Upon purchase of the certificate, the FMC will provide the following medical services:

  • Consultation of a doctor;
  • Medical manipulations, if necessary;
  • 11 types of basic laboratory tests, diagnostic tests (ECG) in case of presence of a referral from a specialist;
  • Emergency medical care.

The certificate also gives the right to a discount of up to 50 percent on subsidized medicines in pharmacies under an additional compulsory medical insurance package.

In case of hospitalization, the certificate gives you the right to receive treatment in hospitals of the republic with an average co-payment (includes surgery, anesthesia, medicines and medical products (syringe, medical alcohol, medical cotton wool, bandage, etc.) and tests (according to the list).

In the absence of the certificate, medical services are paid according to the price list.

The compulsory medical insurance certificate for six months costs 9,052 soms; for a year — 18,105 soms.

 

How and where can I get the compulsory medical insurance certificate?

Step 1: you need a passport, a certificate from the head of quarter or house committee confirming your living at this address.

Step 2: contact the territorial departments (TD) of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund (CMIF) and fill out an application to purchase the certificate.

Step 3: you can pay for it at the cash desk of the TD CMIF, a bank or through an electronic wallet.

 The certificate becomes effective within five working days from the date of application and payment of its cost.

Emergency medical care is provided to all citizens free of charge until the patient is withdrawn from a state that threatens the life and health of the patient, including the provision of medicines and medical products.
