Influenza vaccination in Kyrgyzstan is planned to start in October. The Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision reported.

According to doctors, a gradual rise in infection with acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza begins in October. This is caused by the high resistance of the influenza virus to low temperatures and the decrease in human body defenses during hypothermia. Close contact of patients with healthy also contributes to a sharp rise in the disease.

To reduce severe complications and prevent mortality from influenza, vaccination is primarily recommended to risk groups. These are health workers, sickly children, people with chronic diseases and over 65 years old, pregnant women. The rest of the citizens who want to get vaccinated can apply to private medical centers.

The State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service noted that there is no influenza vaccine yet in the republic.

The tender, according to the public procurement portal, was announced on September 9 for 27.3 million soms. The deadline for submitting proposals from suppliers has expired on Monday. The vaccine must be delivered by October 15.

The first symptoms of influenza are high fever (39-40 degrees), chills, cough, sore throat, runny nose or nasal congestion, pain throughout the body, headache, weakness.

When the first symptoms appear, you need to stay at home and call a doctor.

Doctors also advise:

  • To cover nose and mouth with a handkerchief when sneezing or coughing;
  • To wash hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing;
  • Try not to touch eyes, nose and mouth with hands;
  • To avoid close contact with sick people;
  • To wear a medical mask not to infect the loved ones;
  • More often ventilate the room where the patient is located, and regularly carry out wet cleaning;
  • Not to self-medicate.
