Aquaculture production has increased 1.7 times in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) over the past five years. Press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission reported.
According to it, the largest growth is observed in Kyrgyzstan. Domestic fish farms have increased production 5 times. The figure increased 4 times in Kazakhstan, and in Russia — 1.7 times.
As a result of 2021, Kyrgyzstan exported more than 5,000 tons of fish. This volume is produced by 194 fish farms. Production of marketable fish in 2021 amounted to 10,344 tons, which is twice as much as in 2020. Basically, two types of fish are grown in the country — carp and trout. Exports also increased along with an increase in production. It amounted to more than 5,000 tons last year, which is 2,000 tons more than a year earlier.
Construction of a plant for the production of extruded trout feed started in Kyrgyzstan in early June 2022. The project is financed by the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund. It is planned that its capacity will reach 3,600 tons of products per year, and production volumes will cover about 30-50 percent of feed consumption in the local market. It is expected that the cost of the feed will reduce by 30 percent.
