Deputies of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan decided to set up headquarters to collect humanitarian aid and assist in the evacuation of people from areas where hostilities are taking place. Marlen Mamataliev, a deputy from Yntymak faction, told journalists.
According to him, the headquarters will be located in Bishkek and Osh cities.
«A separate group of deputies is going to leave for Batken. We won’t interfere. We will simply do our job, help the population, get the people out of a difficult situation. We will urgently collect humanitarian aid and sent it to the region,» Marlen Mamataliev said.
Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. According to the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security, at about 6 a.m. the Tajik side started firing at the border detachments and positions of the Kyrgyz side. Later, the Tajik side began mortar shelling of border outposts and border villages in Leilek and Batken districts. At least 31 people were wounded. Shooting continues for the third day. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts left their homes.
