President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov met with the head of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand.
The parties discussed current areas of Kyrgyz-Uzbek bilateral cooperation, which, as the press service of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic notes, has good dynamics and is able to reach a new level.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the importance of expanding the activities of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund, which successfully started its activities through the implementation of joint projects. He noted the conclusion of a trilateral agreement on the construction of China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway. Interest was expressed in the active implementation of this large-scale project, which will bring benefits to the parties.
In addition, the leader of Uzbekistan noted the importance of deepening cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, including in the implementation of major projects, as well as intensifying partnership between the regions of the two states, especially border areas and districts.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev added that the Uzbek side is actively preparing for a visit to Kyrgyzstan and hopes that it will give a powerful impetus to bilateral cooperation in all areas.
Sadyr Japarov said that Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations were primarily based on close historical, cultural and spiritual ties. «We always appreciate and support friendship, unity and fraternal ties between our peoples. This is our common heritage. To date, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan are close neighbors, strong friends and strategic partners,» he commented.
The head of state assured that Kyrgyzstan is fully committed to further strengthening political cooperation, all-round expansion of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties with fraternal Uzbekistan. He expressed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in enhancing cooperation in the transport and transit sector, including implementation of the project for construction of the railway of the three countries.
The leaders of the states paid special attention to the importance of the projects, emphasizing that their soonest implementation would contribute to the development not only of the two countries, but of the entire Central Asia as a whole.
