Almost 800 people await refugee status in Kyrgyzstan

At least 168 people have received refugee status in Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of the year. Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration, Nurdoolot Bazarbaevб announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on social policy.

«At least 67 of them came from Syria, 17 — from Ukraine. They received the status on a general basis,» the official said.

According to him, 318 people applied for refugee status for eight months of 2022. At least 247 of them are from Afghanistan, the rest are from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Palestine, Pakistan and Syria.

In general, according to him, 794 people are awaiting the status to date. Their appeals are pending. Most of them are from Afghanistan — 467 people.
