President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov expressed his condolences to the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in connection with the human casualties as a result of the earthquake in Sichuan province. Press service of the head of state reported.
«With deep regret, I took the sad news of the dead and injured as a result of the earthquake in Sichuan province. On behalf of the people of Kyrgyzstan and on my own behalf, I express my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. I wish a speedy recovery to those affected by this tragedy. We share the pain and bitterness of irreparable loss,» the telegram says.
A magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit China’s Sichuan province. It was the strongest earthquake in the region since 2017. The epicenter was in the mountainous area in Luding county, about 226 kilometers southwest of Chengdu, a city of about 21 million people, where a state of emergency due to COVID-19 was declared. The earthquake killed 46 people and severely damaged infrastructure.
