Diesel prices will continue to rise in autumn. Kanatbek Eshatov, president of the Association of Oil Traders of Kyrgyzstan, told about this.
According to him, the seasonal increase in retail prices is due to several reasons.
«There is a shortage of diesel in the domestic market of Russia. The most basic reason is that three large plants were put into preventive maintenance. They replace foreign components with Russian ones. In addition, autumn assembly work is ongoing there,» Kanatbek Eshatov told about the situation on the market of the main supplier of fuel and lubricants.
He noted that Kazakhstan announced its intention to buy a certain volume of diesel from Russian oil refineries from September.
«Kazakhstan buys diesel from Russia for two or three months at the end of the year. Because of this, demand increases and prices automatically rise. Kazakhstan takes our three-month supply within a month,» Kanatbek Eshatov added.
He clarified that the final prices for retail consumers depend on the selling prices of processors. Therefore, the president of the Association of Oil Traders did not specify how much prices could rise. He stressed that the increase in the cost of fuel and lubricants is a global trend. The prices have been steadily going up since October 2021.
According to him, the selling price of diesel at Russian refineries has increased by 98 percent since the beginning of the year, and the retail price in Kyrgyzstan increased by 22.5 percent.
«As for the gasoline group, the growth is not so big. As for the most popular AI 92 brand, the increase in selling prices since the beginning of the year amounted to 65 percent. The growth amounted to 5.5 percent, which is 3.2 soms in the retail market,» Kanatbek Eshatov said.
The specialist also stressed that oil traders are trying to avoid sharp jumps in prices for fuel and lubricants, because an increase in the price of energy resources by one som can lead to an increase in prices for goods and services in other sectors by five soms.
