Russia is actively working on the social and cultural adaptation of migrants. Igor Barinov, head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs, told at a meeting with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
According to the official, the measures are being taken to reduce ethnic crime and prevent the formation of enclaves.
«Migration processes are complex and important. We understand that the economy needs an influx of foreign labor, but, unfortunately, these processes sometimes change the ethno-cultural landscape in certain territories,» Igor Barinov told the head of the Russian Federation.
He added that the country has begun the process of developing new comprehensive measures to prevent the spatial and social isolation of migrants. To strengthen initiatives, it is planned to involve public and religious organizations.
Vladimir Putin replied that the process should be carried out in the homeland of potential migrants.
«Our colleagues agree with this, they are ready to join. We just need to be more active in this regard. There is no one against, no one objects. On the contrary, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan — they all do it with pleasure,» the President of the Russian Federation said.
He added that the leaders of the Central Asian countries are well aware that migrants in Russia must know the culture, language and legislation.
To achieve this goal, according to Igor Barinov, the most effective mechanism is the creation of adaptation centers. There are no such organizations in Russia yet. The first pilot centers are planned to open in several regions of the Russian Federation. There migrants can learn about traditions, customs, culture, get legal and psychological support.
«People must understand: if they come to Russia, they must respect our customs, our traditions, know and comply with Russian laws,» Vladimir Putin supported.
Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have already announced creation of migration centers for employment of their citizens in Russia.
