There are rumors that gold is being stolen at Kumtor. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov stated in an interview with Kabar news agency.
According to him, no one will steal a single gram of gold from Kumtor. From five to ten people draw up and sign acts at each point.
«Each gram is weighed, video surveillance is in operation around the clock,» Sadyr Japarov said.
«I sent the Accounts Chamber to Kumtor. During the inspection, it turned out that some materials are purchased at an inflated price. For this reason, the management of Kumtor was changed and a new one was appointed. It was explained that the state took Kumtor under its control and the management of the enterprise is responsible for each tyiyn. The Prosecutor General’s Office has created a group and continues to check. I gave one month. We will disclose the results to the public, we are not going to hide anything,» Sadyr Japarov added.
External management was introduced at Kumtor on May 17, 2021.
Earlier, it became known about financial violations revealed at Kumtor, in particular, fuels and lubricants, food, spare parts were purchased at prices above market ones. In this regard, Tengiz Bolturuk, who previously headed Kumtor, and financial director Ryspek Toktogulov were removed from their posts.
