Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov and the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, which takes place in Cholpon-Ata city, Issyk-Kul region. Press service of the Cabinet reported.

Akylbek Japarov noted that cooperation between the two countries is characterized by active interaction at almost all levels, both on a bilateral and multilateral basis within the framework of international organizations and integration associations. There is a stable growth of trade, economic and investment ties between the two countries.

During the first half of the year, the mutual trade turnover with Russia increased by almost 40 percent and amounted to $1,426.5 billion.

At the same time, exports from the republic to the Russian Federation almost doubled.

Akylbek Japarov said that the removal of all restrictions on passenger traffic between the countries, including air, road and rail traffic, contributed to a significant influx of Russian tourists in the summer season.

«For the first time, 14 direct flights per week are operated from Russian cities to Issyk-Kul region (Issyk-Kul airport in Tamchi village). We are very pleased that the fraternal people choose our republic for recreation. I am glad that the parties have begun implementing the agreements on the construction of nine educational institutions in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic,» he said.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers also raised the issue of the legal status of compatriots working in Russia.

The Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, in turn, expressed interest in expanding cooperation in all current areas. Russia proposes implementation of joint projects in the automobile production industry, agriculture, and transport infrastructure.

«Our common goal is to create conditions for solving long-term strategic tasks in the trade and economic sphere, ensuring a favorable investment and business climate. These issues are dealt with by a bilateral intergovernmental commission. It is necessary to speed up the signing of a new program of economic cooperation for 2022-2026, which will further expand cooperation, increase trade turnover, and the volume of mutual investments,» he said.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a set of topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
