A five-year-old boy died of tetanus at the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital (RCIDH). Press center of the Ministry of Health Kyrgyzstan reported.
According to the ministry, he was transferred to the RCIDH from the Tokmak General Medical Practice Center through the air ambulance service on the evening of August 23. He was in an extremely critical condition.
«The boy was vaccinated only at the maternity hospital after birth, his parents refused all other vaccines. According to the mother, 10 days ago the child stepped on a nail with his left foot, began to limp, then his body temperature rose to 38.5, and difficulty in swallowing appeared. The parents turned to the Tokmak General Medical Practice Center, the boy was hospitalized in the intensive care unit, he was consulted by a neuropathologist, head of the intensive care unit of the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare. Then the patient was taken to the RCIDH with tetanus. Despite the ongoing treatment and emergency assistance provided, the boy died tonight,» the Ministry of Health noted.
