PISA 2025: Participation fee for Kyrgyzstan is €380,000

The fee for participation in PISA 2025 for Kyrgyzstan will be €380,000. PISA 2025 National Project Manager Onolkan Umankulova told 24.kg news agency.

According to her, participation of the republic is fully supported by the World Bank (WB). In addition to this amount, there will be other expenses that are necessary to prepare the country for the testing.

For example, it is planned to equip some schools and pedagogical colleges with computers, create STEM IT platforms (natural sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics), train teachers and build up the potential of teachers of the Republican Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Teachers. All this requires finances. A lot of assistance is provided by international partners. In addition to WB, the European Union also helps.

The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a test that assesses the literacy of 15-year-old students in different countries of the world and their ability to apply knowledge in practice. It takes place every three years.

Kyrgyzstan participated in PISA 2006 and PISA 2009, but took the last (57th and 65th) places. Further, the country refused to participate in this programme.
