Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan hold negotiations on border demarcation

Negotiations between the government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan began today in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region, at which the parties will discuss issues of demarcation of certain sections of the state border.

According to Special Representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Nazirbek Borubaev, the parties intend to clarify the positions of the countries on previously unagreed sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border.

He added that to date 1,170 kilometers of the border between the countries have been clarified, it is necessary to resolve the issue of the remaining ones.

Nazirbek Borubaev explained that the governments of the two countries plan to resolve border issues in full in 2022.

The length of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan is 1,378 kilometers, 85 percent of them have been demarcated.

Earlier, the parties met and discussed the issue in Andijan.
