The President of Kyrgyzstan met with the elders of the Organization of Turkic States (Council of Elders of the OTS).
He noted the important place of honor the elders occupy in society and the state. Their authority is indisputable and the course of history is determined by their influence.
Sadyr Japarov stressed the importance of the Council of Elders created in the era of globalization and the loss of original identity by many peoples. In his opinion, by turning to the wisdom of the elders, the participating states will be able to turn the organization into one of the strongest associations in the world.
It was noted that the Council of Elders is an important deliberative body, which is listened to and supported by the Council of Heads of State.
Sadyr Japarov recalled that in two months it is planned to hold the 4th World Nomad Games in Turkey, initiated by Kyrgyzstan. The Kyrgyz side is actively preparing to take part in both the sports and cultural parts, with an emphasis on popularizing the Kyrgyz culture, life, traditions and art.
Following the meeting, the participants noted the need to strengthen the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the Turkic-speaking states.
Binali Yildirim, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, was awarded the Danaker Order for his great contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey.
Elders from Kyrgyzstan Medetkan Sherimkulov, Azerbaijan Gasan Aziz ogly Gasanov, Kazakhstan Ikram Adyrbekov, Turkey Binali Yildirim, Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saifullaev, Turkmenistan Rejep Bazarov, as well as the Secretary General of the OTS — Bagdad Amreev took part in the meeting with the President.
The Council of Elders is a recommendation and advisory body, consisting of the elders of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States, appointed from among authoritative citizens (former prime ministers, ministers, deputies, ambassadors). Kyrgyzstan is represented in the Council by the ex-speaker of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Medetkan Sherimkulov.
