Over the past month, the gross international reserves decreased by $86.87 million. Compared to July last year, they decreased by $106.89 million. Since the beginning of the year, the figure decreased by $429.08 million. The highest level of the reserves was registered in September 2021 — $3,241.14 billion.
The National Bank uses the reserves to smooth out sharp fluctuations in the foreign exchange market. Last year, it conducted 15 interventions, having sold $698,95 million. From the beginning of 2022 to April 5, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted five interventions to sell the foreign currency in the amount of $284.3 million and seven interventions to buy $190,740 million U.S. dollars. As a result, net sales amounted to $93.56 million.
