The total volume of dollars in the banking system of Kyrgyzstan tends to grow. The Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Nurbek Zhenish told at a press conference.
«There is no shortage of non-cash dollars in the foreign exchange market of our country. Commercial banks are ready to meet the demand for any amount of non-cash dollars,» he said.
The official representative of the bank noted that the greatest demand for the currency comes from the shadow economy, which, in an attempt to hide real incomes, uses cash. «Given the availability, security and openness of the non-cash payment method, we recommend using it,» he added.
Earlier, the National Bank acknowledged that the black market became active against the background of a shortage of cash currency in Kyrgyzstan. According to it, representatives of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with the police and tax authorities, are conducting raids to identify persons exchanging cash foreign currency without a license. So far, 10 people have been fined 175,000 soms.
