A regular meeting of the Operational Headquarters for the fight against coronavirus infection was held in the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the press service of the Government, the epidemiological situation in the republic, as well as the course of vaccination of the population, were considered.
As representatives of the Ministry of Health noted, there is currently a decrease in the number of cases of coronavirus infection, but citizens are advised to wear masks in crowded places.
Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov noted the importance of stepping up the campaign on vaccination of the population against coronavirus.
«The only protection against coronavirus is vaccination, especially for people with chronic diseases and the elderly. According to WHO, in the coming months, countries may experience one or more increases in SARS-CoV-2 cases, hospitalizations and deaths, which could be accompanied by an increase in cases of influenza and other respiratory infections, such as those caused by respiratory syncytial virus. The emergence of new strains or subvariants of SARS-CoV-2 could lead to new waves of infection with a corresponding increase in hospitalizations and deaths, which could also increase the load on medical facilities,» he said.
