A pilot project on underground storage and waste collection is being implemented in Bishkek. The City Hall of the capital informed 24.kg news agency.
A tender for the purchase of a system of three underground waste storage facilities is planned to be announced in the near future.
«Sketches and commercial offers were received from three foreign companies. Tazalyk municipal enterprise is working on the issue together with investors on the construction and purchase of underground structures,» the press service of the City Hall said.
As part of the pilot project, the first underground waste storage facilities will appear at the following locations:
1) At the intersection of Razzakov and Zhumabek Streets.
2) On Panfilov Street near the house 188/2.
3) On Zhumabek Street, between Tynystanov/Abdrakhmanov Streets.
«Thanks to this approach, city streets will have a more aesthetic appearance. Such a waste collection system is used in leading European countries. It has shown its high efficiency in the fight against vector-borne diseases,» the City Hall added.
The bunker system for collecting solid waste, as explained, prevents access to garbage by humans, stray animals, birds and insects.
At the same time, this method of storing garbage will eliminate unwanted odors, prevent its ignition and save the surface of the municipal territory.
