The Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan detected 5,400 children of migrants who do not live with their relatives. Press service of the ministry reported.
At the same time, the parents of these children do not take measures to appoint an official guardian for the period of their absence in the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
«Of the detected children of migrant parents, 863 children were placed under preliminary guardianship, 256 were placed under guardianship by court decision, 28 were sent to foster families, 24 were sent to orphanages. Explanatory work is being carried out with the families of the children of migrant parents about the need to register custody of children,» the ministry noted.
The Ministry of Labor added that in the first half of the year 148,920 household visits were made to identify children of labor migrants. «Some 88,034 children have been identified, 73,546 (83.5 percent) of whom are children of external migrants, 14,448 (16.5 percent) are children of internal migrants,» the ministry said.
