The website of ResPublica newspaper was blocked on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. The Editor-in-Chief of the media outlet Zamira Sydykova reported on social media.

According to her, there has been everything in the history of the newspaper since 1992 — legal proceedings, imprisonment of the staff, it was fined, but the website was not blocked. This became possible with the adoption of the Law on the Protection from False Information on August 23, 2021. The authority for this was transferred to the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy.

«From now on, there is no freedom of speech,» Zamira Sydykova summed up.

She said that the decision was made by the ministry on June 15, 2022 at the request of Asan Toktosunov, about whom the newspaper published several articles, accusing him of corruption. It is known that he went to court with a claim for the protection of his honor and dignity.
