The 4th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia is taking place in Cholpon-Ata city.

In his speech, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov did not rule out that attempts are made from outside to destabilize the internal political situation in the countries of the region. It will require determination and unity to confront them. Conflicts in the Eurasian space, beyond the borders of Central Asia, also have a negative impact.

«There must be a strong security system. Together we must ensure that the region remains a zone of stability and trust. We consider it expedient to step up and strengthen political and diplomatic cooperation. An objective analysis of events taking place in the world is needed. I propose to instruct the Ministries of Foreign Affairs to develop a roadmap for a period of two years for the implementation of security measures. I propose to think about strengthening transnational ties. I propose to hold a media forum with the participation of the media so that we can pursue a balanced information policy, impartial and reliable one,» Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.

The head of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev supported the speech of the leader of Turkmenistan. He noted that peace, stability and prosperity of the entire region depend on all the states of Central Asia, and called on the countries to unite and cooperate more actively to prevent external threats. Shavkat Mirziyoyev reminded his colleagues about the difficult international situation and stressed that the format of a civilized dialogue had been violated.

The first Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia was held in Nur-Sultan (2018), the second — in Tashkent (2019). In 2020, the summit was planned to be held in Kyrgyzstan, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed for a year. Turkmenistan hosted the third meeting in August 2021.
