The Republican Headquarters of Kyrgyzstan told about a new subvariant of Omicron strain «Centaurus», which is now spreading all over the world. The day before, Rospotrebsoyuz reported five cases of this subvariant in Moscow.

«The coronavirus mutation, popularly called «Centaurus», was first detected in India. Then the virus quickly spread to other countries — the UK, the USA, Australia, Germany, Canada, Russia,» the headquarters noted.

This variation of COVID-19 has a low mortality rate. The symptoms are the same as those of other strains: fever, weakness, muscle and headache pain, abdominal pain, the upper respiratory tract is more often affected, pneumonia develops much less often, patients do not lose their sense of smell.

The virus is known to be more contagious and resistant to antibodies against COVID-19. Mutations of this subvariant help the virus to transmit more efficiently between carriers. But, despite the high degree of transmission, it does not cause severe symptoms and consequences.
