Incidence of acute intestinal infections grows 2.3 times in Bishkek

Incidence of acute intestinal infections increased 2.3 times in Bishkek. It was announced at a meeting of the Coordination Council for Socially Significant and Especially Dangerous Diseases, press service of the capital’s City Hall reported.

Participants of the meeting discussed epidemiological situation in terms of ARVI and COVID-19, incidence of acute intestinal infections and tick-borne encephalitis, preventive measures within the anti-drug program, the problem of depression and suicides.

Since the beginning of the year, 34,412 cases of acute respiratory viral infections have been registered in Bishkek that is 15.9 percent less than in the same period last year. Most cases are among children under 14. Doctors explain that at this age sensitivity to the influenza virus and ARVI is four times higher than in adults.

There is a seasonal increase in the incidence of acute intestinal infections (2.3 times).

For the first half of the year, 413 people turned for medical help in the capital with tick bites, tick-borne encephalitis was detected in two cases.

According to the Republican Center for Psychiatry and Narcology of the Ministry of Health, 34,258 people with alcohol addiction are registered, 8,226 — with drug addiction, including 10 minors (8 boys and 2 girls).

«The main reason is the rapid growth in the number of new psychoactive substances, vapes, vaping, absolutely uncontrolled sale to persons under 18, pharmacy drug addiction, distribution of drugs among young people through social media, uncontrolled sale of energy drinks,» the City Hall added.
