Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Tajikistan next week. Lenta.ru reports , citing «Moscow. Kremlin. Putin» TV show on Russia 1 TV channel.
«Putin will first arrive in Dushanbe this week. Big talks with the President of Tajikistan [Emomali] Rahmon: a conversation and a working lunch are planned,» the TV show said.
In addition, the Russian leader plans to hold talks with the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo, as well as visit Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), where he will take part in the Caspian Summit.
This will be the first foreign trip of the Russian leader since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine.
During the Soviet era, the Caspian Sea was practically an inland water basin within the borders of the Soviet Union and washed the coast of Iran only in the south. Until 1992, the status of the Caspian Sea was regulated by Soviet-Iranian treaties. After the collapse of the USSR, newly independent states such as Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan raised the issue of dividing the Caspian Sea. As a result, the leaders of these countries decided to organize the Caspian Summit. It will be the sixth in a row in 2022.
