Activists came to the building of Parliament in Bishkek to protest against legalization of casinos.
According to its organizer Almanbet Abylkasym uulu, this is the second protest. The first one took place in Osh on May 30.
«Legalization of casinos will entail severe social and economic consequences for the families of Kyrgyzstanis. The deputies forgot the reason why gambling activities were banned. Gambling addicts ruined families, committed suicide. How much grief it brought! If the initiators are thinking about replenishing the budget, they should fight corruption, and not promote dubious initiatives,» he said.
«This is still the same gambling activity, only hiding under a new look,» they noted.
Demands were made to step up work on detection of illegal casinos.
The initiative to legalize gambling establishments caused a wide public outcry. Some support it, others oppose it, including the clergy. Sadyr Japarov called criticism against possible resumption of gambling activities in the Kyrgyz Republic «a black PR».
Deputy Dastan Bekeshev told that the deputies considering the bill are being pressured.
